May... starts off the season fishing warmer waters near shore.
The use of planner boards and light tackle makes Brown Trout fishing so much fun. Brown Trout generally weigh in between 5 and 18 pounds. These beautiful hard fighting fish make a day's fishing exciting. You’ll want to come back again and again.
June... enjoys calm waters. Brown Trout are still very active but now we set up surface rods for both Trout and the exciting aerobatic Steelhead. These fish can make breathtaking leaps out of the water as you fight to land them.
We also set up large rods on the down riggers and start fishing for Salmon. There are several species of Salmon in the Great Lakes ranging from 5 pounds for the smaller varieties to up to 35 pounds for King Salmon. Hang on to your hat when a King hits your line, because you’re in for the fight and time of your life.
July... is the time of the season when the gloves come off and it becomes a real fight. The fish are deep in colder water and are feeding daily and full of energy. There are many species competing for the bait fish. You may catch Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Walleyes, Steelhead, Bass, Salmon or even a trophy Lake Trout. Lake Ontario is a huge lake and the Captains of Trout One know where to take you for a fabulous day of fishing with some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
August through September... is the time of the year fishermen dream about during those long winter nights. This is the time of the year, during the Salmon Run that you have the chance to catch the fish of your dreams. Grabbing hold of a fishing rod with a 30 pound Salmon on it is like trying to real in a locomotive. You will find out why they are called King Salmon. Just when you think you’ve won and have the fish by the boat, it sees the net and makes another mighty run, the length of a football field.
